Privacy Policy

Data Collection

1.1 Personal Data: We may collect personal data such as your name, email address, and profile picture when you create an account via email login, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In. This information is used to provide you with access to the app’s features and to personalize your experience.

1.2 Camera and Photos: If you grant the app permission to access your device’s camera and photos, we may collect and store the images or videos you take or upload within the app. This data is used solely to provide app functionality and to enhance your user experience.

1.3 Usage Data: We may collect non-personal data about your interactions with the app, such as features used, preferences, and other analytical data. This information is used to improve the app’s performance and usability.

1.4 Health and Fitness Data: If you choose to connect ClemCam to Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) and grant permission, the app reads the following data from it: steps, walking and running distance, active and total calories burned, workouts (exercise sessions) and body weight. With your permission the app also writes data to Apple Health or Health Connect: the nutrition values of the meals you log (calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, sugar and saturated fat) and body weight entries. Connecting is optional. The app works without it, and you can turn access off at any time in ClemCam's settings, in the Health app (iOS) or in the Health Connect settings (Android).

Use of Data

2.1 We use the personal data you provide to authenticate your account, personalize your experience, and communicate with you about app features and updates.

2.2 The images and videos you capture or upload in the app are used solely to provide app functionality and are not shared with third parties unless you have expressly consented to such sharing.

2.3 We may use non-personal usage data to analyze trends, track user movements, and collect demographic information for aggregate use. This data is not linked to personally identifiable information.

2.4 We use health and fitness data only to provide ClemCam's features to you: to show your activity and calories burned next to your food diary and in the app's widgets, to account for burned calories in your daily overview, to keep your weight progress up to date, and to save your logged meals and weight in Apple Health or Health Connect. Activity data (steps, distance, calories burned, workouts) is processed on your device and is not uploaded to our servers. Weight measurements you import are stored with your account in Firebase, like weights you enter yourself. They are used for your plan and weight progress, your weekly report, and as context when you ask Clemens, our in-app nutrition assistant, a question (the request is then processed by our AI service provider to answer you). We do not sell health and fitness data, do not share it with third parties for advertising, marketing or data brokering, do not use it for advertising or analytics, and do not use it for any purpose other than providing and improving these features. ClemCam's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Health and fitness data stored with your account is deleted when you delete your account.

Data Storage and Third-Party Services

3.1 We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

3.2 We use Firebase, a secure backend service provided by Google, to store and process your data and images. Firebase employs industry-standard security practices to protect your data.

Data Retention and Deletion

4.1 We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

4.2 If you wish to request the deletion of your personal data, you may do so in the app under Settings, Delete Account, or by sending an email to info@clemcam.de. Please include the necessary information in your email to verify your identity and specify the data you wish to be deleted. We will promptly process your request and delete your data from our systems, subject to any legal obligations or legitimate business purposes that may require retention.

Third-Party Services

5.1 The app may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services.

5.2 We may use third-party services, such as Google Analytics, to analyze and improve the app’s performance. These third-party services may collect and use non-personal data about your interactions with the app.

The app is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information as soon as possible.

We reserve the right to update or change this policy at any time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated policy in the app or on our website. Your continued use of the app after any changes to the policy will constitute your acceptance of those changes.
